Screencasting

One netiquette rule to follow is "share your knowledge".   Screencasting is a great way to share what you know with others.  There are many sites on the web where you can find "how to" videos.

Go to the following link and listen to the video on tables.  Topic:  How to insert table in Word, format bullets, add column, and format.  http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cXV6elXPW . . . it's not perfect . . . After watching the video see how well you can complete the assignment from handout.

When finished discuss how you think you did.  How can the video be improved.  What mistakes were made on the video?  Leave your response to these questions in the comment section here.

Now, go to http://www.screencast-o-matic.com and setup your own account. Record your user name and password on the Word document where you save all your logins.  Create a screencast on how to add a your name and filename and path in the footer of a Word document.  Post the link to your blog.  Before you begin, practice what you want to record.  Think about the words you'll use.

  4. It could have been better when you were aligning the price you said left not right and you could have spoken clearer.

  5. I could finish the task easily. The voice on the video could have been a lot louder and a few times she would say she was going to align something to the left or right and end up doing the opposit. But other than that, the video could be helpful.

  10. I think I did an "ok" job because I looked at the handout and could figure it out. The video didn't tell you the correct amount of columns to make the table and didn't explain how to align the bullets very well just as long as they were on the left side, the video didn't say how far over left. The video could change how many columns to have the table and also how to adjust the size of each of the rows.

  11. It was very easy for me to complete this task using the video. They could have talked a little more louder and clearer to make it better. Sometimes they got confused on what they were saying. Overall, I think the video was helpful.

  14. There were a few errors within the screen cast such as the wrong size table, a few errors in process of making it, and getting lost in the speech. but over i would be helpful to someone who needs it.

  16. I thought the video was good, but the person could have been more clear and gone a little slower to help us understand more.

  18. I think that you should talk a little louder when doing this video, because I had to turn up the volume all the way just to hear it. Also, I think that you should show how to add the pictures to the table, even though I already knew how to do it.

  21. This video did a decent job with explaining how to create a table in Microsoft Word. There were a few minor problems during the screencast. First the incorrect amount of columns and rows. The video inserted 5 columns and 3 rows, there were supposed to be 4 columns and 5 rows. The voice was also very soft and not clear. The alignment of the bullets was also off, it was much more difficult creating bullets in the table. The video said to align the Total Price to the left, but on the handout it was aligned to the right. Overall, the video was helpful in making this table, but the handout was more helpful.

  25. Most of the errors were discussed. When creating your own screen casts we've found it's best to keep them short and simple - no more than 3 minutes long. Terminology used should be consistent. Volume should be loud and clear. Practice several times before recording – you’ll find you have less error and less frustration.
